Esterel Technologies and Gerard Berry Nominated for 2002 World Technology Award
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. & GUYANCOURT, France--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept.
30, 2002--Esterel Technologies, a global provider of design solutions
for verification-critical systems, was one of five companies and the
only electronic design automation (EDA) company nominated for the 2002
World Technology Awards.
Esterel was nominated in the IT software category. In addition,
Dr. Gerard Berry, chief scientific officer of Esterel Technologies,
was one of six people nominated for pioneering work in IT software.
The awards are presented annually by the World Technology Network
in association with Nasdaq, Red Herring, the International Herald
Tribune, Time Magazine, Science Magazine, Cisco, Intel and Novartis.
The World Technology Awards were created to honor innovative
individuals and companies from across the globe that most contribute
to the advancement of emerging technologies for the benefit of
business and society. The awards honor those whose work will likely
have the greatest future significance and impact over the long term,
and who will likely become or remain "key players" in technology.
"We are pleased to be nominated for this award and proud of Dr.
Gerard Berry's accomplishments. Both nominations clearly demonstrate
the growing importance of our solutions, which prevent bugs in
critical software through correct-by-construction methodology and
tools. These techniques have been used successfully in Avionics for
many years, and are now being deployed in the development of critical
embedded software systems," said Eric Bantegnie, president and CEO of
Esterel Technologies.
"Technology is a key influencer of the changes that occur in our
every day existence and we believe Esterel Technologies can continue
to greatly contribute to society as a leader in the EDA, aerospace and
defense fields."
